Happy August!

Between constant search engine algorithm shifts, AI-powered discovery tools, and changing client intake behaviors, keeping your online presence optimized can feel like a moving target. In this blog, we cut through the noise to deliver the essential digital marketing updates you need to protect your firm’s market share, maximize advertising ROI, and turn industry changes into a distinct competitive advantage.

Here are the updates for this month 👇

🤖AI

Google faces class action over books used to train AI. Publishers allege works supplied to Google Books, Play Books and Scholar were used to train Gemini without permission. Courts are yet to rule on the claims.

ChatGPT is rolling out a new option to upload audience lists in the OpenAI ad platform. Having the audience lists directly on the platform will improve ad targeting for potential clients and ultimately increase reach.

🌐Digital Advertising

Google is beginning to move Local Services Ads (LSAs) into the Google Ads platform as a new Performance Max pay-per-lead campaign type. This change will allow advertisers to manage LSAs alongside their other Google Ads campaigns in one single platform, while maintaining the pay-per-lead model and Google Guaranteed/Google Screened features. The rollout will happen gradually, and no action is required at this time. We’ll continue monitoring the transition and make any necessary updates to ensure your campaigns continue performing at their best.

Google is testing AI summaries with search ads. These summaries are generated by Google. They say these are meant to explain the ads and give potential customers more information to make an informed decision. Advertisers will not be able to control what goes in these summaries, but Google added a disclaimer that they are AI-generated and may be incorrect. They have stated that this is a small test to see how AI can be more fully integrated into search. We will be on the lookout for more information.

📱Social Media

Google added a new feature that allows advertisers to track what keywords potential clients use in their searches that lead them to advertisers’ social media platforms. Being able to track those keywords means clearer attribution for social media networks.

LinkedIn shares a checklist with tips on how to post effectively and befriend their algorithm. This checklist covers how often you should post, how long your posts should be, and what content you should be posting. Following the guidance will help increase your likelihood of being cited in AI Search.

Stay LAWsome–We’ll See You Again Next Month!

That’s a wrap for this month’s update! Digital legal marketing moves fast, but keeping up with every algorithm shift and AI test doesn’t have to take over your calendar—we’ll keep doing the heavy lifting for you. Keep an eye on your inbox next month, where we’ll break down the latest platform changes, practical strategies, and actionable takeaways to keep your firm ahead. See you in September!

Once upon a time, lawyers did not advertise on TV. State and local bars forbid it. Then came the disco era. In 1977, in Bates v. State Bar of Arizona, the U.S. Supreme Court freed lawyers to use television commercials by ruling that lawyer advertising is a constitutionally protected form of commercial speech.

Today, more than 50 years after Bates, you can find lawyers exercising their First Amendment rights in commercials that air around the clock on TV – even during the Super Bowl – and cycle endlessly through YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other social media.

Sure, not all law firm TV ads are Super Bowl commercial-caliber. Some still follow a format that likely dates to the late 1970s, with a lawyer staring directly into the camera and talking with a serious face while surrounded by leather chairs, large wood desks, and unused books. In other words, some lawyer TV commercials do little to make the firm stand out. If you are looking for a law firm digital marketing agency, consider us!

However, as a general trend, competition for clients has spurred creativity in lawyer TV advertising, especially in personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. Today, law firms nationwide make highly memorable TV commercials featuring quality production, compelling storylines, and clear messaging. They make the law firm stand out and carry the potential to generate solid leads in their target markets.

In this article, we discuss the 12 lawyer TV commercials that we believe are the “best” ones out there. To us, they are the ones that best reflect how lawyers can tackle the competition by getting creative and using effective marketing techniques to connect with prospective clients.

What Makes Some Lawyer TV Commercials Stand Out from the Rest?

Some of the lawyer TV commercials we chose for this list made us laugh. Others made us want to find a family member to hug. What they all have in common is that they made us feel confident that we would contact the law firm if we lived in that market and needed legal help in the firm’s practice areas, which is the key test.

We specifically based our picks on the following three factors:

  • Production — We looked for commercials with engaging visuals that brought the law firm’s message to life. Some ads feature Hollywood-style cinematography and sound. Others simply have striking visuals that caught our attention and made us want to keep watching.
  • Content — We also focused on whether the commercial features a compelling storyline that could resonate with prospective clients. We looked for content that touches on emotions through humor or heartwarming stories, and for content that showcases the law firm’s experience and character in a way that would build trust with viewers.
  • Messaging — Finally, we considered the effectiveness of the ad’s messaging. Does the ad’s core message cover the needs and concerns of prospective clients? Does it display the firm’s personality and strengths? Does it provide a strong call to action?

To compile this list, we reviewed a ton of lawyer TV commercials and found most of them engaging and effective. We considered making the list longer. However, we settled on these 12 commercials as the “best” ones, which we do not list based on any ranking we gave them:

“Power” – Trolman Glaser Corley & Lichtman, P.C. (New York)

Trolman Glaser Corley & Lichtman’s “Power” spot spoofs the familiar personal injury commercial format. The setup sounds dramatic. A man loses “the best game” of his life when his power goes out. Through his tears, he expresses his disbelief that the power company could ever do such a thing to him. The punchline lands when he claims “pain and suffering,” turning a minor inconvenience into a fake injury claim.

The text states, “There are some cases even we can’t win.” The final disclaimer that “you need to really be injured” makes the joke clear while still reinforcing the actual service the firm is advertising.

“This ‘Ambulance Chaser’ Is Serious About Giving Back” – Mike Morse Law Firm (Michigan)

This ad from Mike Morse Law Firm takes a label usually used as an insult to personal injury attorneys and turns it into a joke.

Noticing a driver has dropped his wallet, Morse picks it up and chases the vehicle, which is sharing the road with an ambulance, making it appear as though he is chasing the emergency vehicle. It seems the whole community is there to witness it. The chase gets picked up by the news networks, which poke fun at the attorney’s reputation for having his ads everywhere.

Morse catches the motorist and returns the wallet at the end. As one commentator notes, “If you want an ambulance chaser, you might as well get one who can catch it.”

“Nothing Feels Better Than a Super Bowl Sunday Win” – Mike Morse Law Firm (Michigan)

Another one from TV favorite Mike Morse, this ad aired (you guessed it) during the 2026 Super Bowl. The attorney is dining out, and his companion asks him, with some disbelief, “So, Michael – nothing feels better than a win?”

Morse takes a moment to reflect on some experiences that would seem to provide the greatest thrills, such as skydiving, whitewater rafting, being held aloft in a mosh pit, walking on hot coals, riding a unicorn, going to outer space, walking a tightrope between high-rises, and replies, “Nope. Nothing.”

The ad ends with nothing more than the firm’s logo, relying on the attorney’s prominence in the community to convey its ultimate message.

“Courtroom” – Law Brothers (California, nationwide)

The 2026 Super Bowl also yielded this commercial from the Law Brothers, another personal injury firm that is unafraid to wink at its own high volume of advertising.

The ad opens in a courtroom, in which the judge notes that the Law Brothers represent the plaintiff. Upon hearing this, the defendant, who is in the middle of taking a sip of water, does a spit take and turns to his lawyer, urging him to settle.

The defense attorney agrees and says he will just need the Law Brothers’ phone number. He starts to search for a pen, but the judge – and, as it turns out, everyone else in the courtroom – just recites the number from memory. As the defendant says to him at the end, “You didn’t know the number? It’s in all their commercials.”

“Pink Heels” – Amanda Demanda Injury Lawyers (Miami)

This firm is known as “The Pink Heel Firm,” which it says refers to the team’s blend of strength and compassion. Now, Amanda Demanda Injury Lawyers has taken their moniker and applied it to multiple billboards in the firm’s Florida service area.

The billboards are based on a series of visual puns. With text reading “no matter the obstacle we go the extra step,” the billboards show pictures of a woman’s lower legs and pink heels in a series of improbable settings: high on a mountaintop, walking down the middle of a road toward a car accident scene, and on a tightrope.

The hot pink color is familiar to prospective clients in the firm’s service area, as it appears throughout their website and other advertising.

“Onder Law Can’t Stop Winning!” – OnderLaw (St. Louis)

This ad, like “Ambulance Chaser” and “Courtroom,” also relies on its audience’s existing familiarity with the firm’s high volume of advertising. It also uses a technique similar to “Ambulance Chaser” by incorporating mock news footage. In this case, the entire commercial is a series of clips of interviewers engaging with individuals in different communities OnderLaw serves.

All the interviewees express amazement at the firm’s capacity to win, in this case in such varied settings as a rodeo, the tennis court, and a frozen custard eating contest. The firm’s St. Louis audience will undoubtedly be familiar with the local landmarks on display, such as the Gateway Arch and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, as well as with the depictions of the neighborhoods themselves.

Despite its many nods to the local scene, the ad was made using AI tools. As AI becomes increasingly prominent in the marketing industry, we can expect more law firms to take advantage of the technology in their advertising.

“Allied Injury Group Commercial 2026” – Allied Injury Group (nationwide)

This ad for Allied Injury Group starring the comedian Shaun Jones relies on the pitchman’s delivery of humorous lists that seem to come straight from a thesaurus. “Collision? Calamity? Catastrophe? Are you innocent? Faultless? Above reproach?”

It pokes fun at the legal industry’s reputation for using confusing, complicated language. “They know the legalese, the lingo, the jargon, and the argot.” It even draws on the humor to be found in numbers. “They’ll even tell you how much money your case could be worth. $300,000. $2 million. $86,491. All sorts of numbers!”

For those worried about the cost of legal representation, it offers reassurance, as Jones says, “If you don’t get paid, the attorneys don’t get paid, and I don’t get paid.”

Many people will find this commercial amusing on its own terms thanks to Jones’s facial expressions and rapid-fire delivery. But it also offers a humorous callback to an earlier era. Jones’s appearance and his vocabulary are a takeoff on the character of Jackie Chiles from television’s Seinfeld, who was himself a parody of the famed attorney Johnnie Cochran. Anyone, regardless of age or background, can find something to enjoy in the ad.

“We Stand Tough” — Jim Adler & Associates (Texas)

We have to start this list with one of the trailblazers in lawyer TV advertising. Jim Adler, or “The Texas Hammer,” has run commercials on TV since shortly after the Bates decision, when it was still largely frowned upon by many attorneys. Even though it made him a “pariah,” Adler told CBS News that TV advertising helped him to grow his Houston personal injury law solo practice into a law firm that today has more than 300 employees and offices throughout Texas.

The fast-action commercial shows Adler standing in the middle of a highway, wielding his sledgehammer, talking tough, and staring nastily at a tractor-trailer as it barrels toward him. “Go with Jim,” the voiceover implores as the firm’s phone number splashes across the screen and the giant truck screeches to a halt just a few feet from Adler and his “big, big hammer.”

“I thought so,” Adler says, turning to the camera with a grin.

Adler has built his practice on his reputation for being a “tough, smart” lawyer who will “stand tough” and take on insurance companies for his clients. With this bold and aggressive commercial, he seamlessly conveys that message and connects with potential clients in his market who want those traits in their lawyer.

“Texas Law Hawk” — Bryan E. Wilson, Attorney at Law (Texas)

It’s also fitting that we list Fort Worth-based criminal defense attorney Bryan E. Wilson right after Adler. He told CBS News that he grew up in Texas admiring Adler’s TV commercials and has tried the same approach in his “over-the-top” ads. However, Wilson shows his commercials solely online and never on TV.

It’s easy to see why this commercial went viral. It features a motorcycle, flames, an American flag, scattered hawk screeches, more flames, and Wilson’s “talons of justice.” Running over a minute long, it also includes a scene in which Wilson smashes through a wall like the Kool-Aid Man to protect a group of young people playing Hungry Hippos from a police officer who tries to crash their party without a search warrant.

“Know your rights!” Wilson screams at the camera. “Call [him] today!”

The ad connects the young attorney to his prospective young adult clients, such as college students, by reaching that target market through a YouTube video rather than a 30-second TV spot. It also appeals to them with some healthy wit, helpful information, and vivid portrayal of Wilson as a passionate, knowledgeable lawyer you can reach any time, day or night.

“Hammer in Space!” — Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers (Kentucky)

When he created Star Wars, George Lucas wanted to make a “space opera.” This commercial is more like a “space opry.”

The ad initially aired during the 2020 Super Bowl. The setting is outer space, where, like life on Earth, you must deal with greedy insurance companies. It features special effects and sound, country music, and Kentucky personal injury lawyer Darryl “The Hammer” Isaacs beaming on board in a Mandalorian suit to save a Princess Leia-like injury victim from a small settlement check.

It works because the commercial grabs your attention from the instant you see that spaceship floating through “the galaxy of Kentucky, where the fight for justice continues,” and because it vividly portrays Isaacs as being a lawyer with the grit and resources to take on even the most powerful opponents for his clients. (You’re also left thinking that a law firm that can spend that much advertising budget on a Super Bowl TV commercial must be doing something right.)

“One Call, That’s All” — Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C. (Georgia)

Personal injury victims don’t want to face a messy, confusing process. They are dealing with injuries, pain, and trauma. They have medical bills, living expenses, mouths to feed, and lives to live. Along those lines, this straightforward ad nails it. With its short, dramatic portrayal of a settlement discussion with a client, the commercial makes the experience of working with Atlanta-area personal injury attorney Kenneth S. Nugent seem like a stress-free process that may lead to much more compensation than you could imagine. The catchy slogan is a bonus.

“The People” — Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. (California)

This commercial is another with high production value that aired during a Super Bowl. Instead of using humor or special effects, Harris Personal Injury Lawyers uses light music and a memorable montage of the landscape, people, and smoked tri-tip of the Central Coast to show its affection for the community and commitment to the people who comprise it. The ad conveys that the firm’s lawyers take pride in protecting their neighbors from insurance companies “far away from here,” and in doing so, helps to develop a sense of trust with potential clients.

“Protect Your Family” — Trantolo &  Trantolo Personal Injury Lawyers (Connecticut and Long Island)

It makes sense that a firm with not one, but three Trantolos on its legal team  — father, son, and Taj, a German Shepherd and former Fidelco seeing-eye dog  — would make a TV commercial focusing on families. You can see how this beautifully shot video might especially resonate with families in the Connecticut and Long Island markets who face challenging times due to an accident that a family member suffered. The message of working with someone dedicated to protecting families is powerful. It gives viewers a solid reason to contact this family of lawyers when needed.

“Masked Man” — Mike Morse Injury Law Firm (Michigan)

This ad, which pays homage to silent-era films, initially aired during the 2021 Super Bowl and in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The black-and-white footage is eye-catching, cinema-quality, and a crafty way to deliver the message that this law firm cares about its community and the people it serves (with the founding attorney’s mother even providing a plug). If we had an honorable mention category, the Morse Injury Law Firm’s “Axe Throwing” commercial would be on it thanks to its catchy visuals, strong call to action, and use of a popular Michigan sport to get the target audience’s attention, or its witty “Ambulance Chaser” spot.

“Paper Boy” — George Sink Injury Lawyers (South Carolina)

This commercial has a light, nostalgic tone. It tells the story of a boy who went from delivering newspapers to delivering settlement checks to his clients as a personal injury lawyer. (The firm’s founder, George Sink Sr., went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam between his days as a paper boy and the opening of his Charleston law office.) The black-and-white opening sequence may especially resonate with an older demographic that grew up watching “The Andy Griffith Show,” and those potential clients of any age who finally want to hear some “good news” after being hurt in an accident and dealing with insurance companies. The firm’s 999-9999 number is perfect.

“It’s Personal” — Bonilla Law Firm (Texas)

This professionally shot and edited commercial from Austin personal injury lawyer Brad Bonilla makes a strong emotional appeal to potential clients that counters the idea that attorneys are simply out to make money. Through a series of shots of the cityscape and the lawyer with his family, the ad clarifies that his law firm has a stake in the community’s safety. At the end of the commercial, it’s convincing when Bonilla tells viewers that “it’s personal” when his law firm helps clients in their community who others have hurt.

“Champion” — Gomez Trial Attorneys (California)

This lawyer TV commercial builds trust and connects with potential clients in the community without talking about the law firm’s experience or results or using a sledgehammer, flames, or spaceship. (After watching the fast-moving first 10 seconds, you may think it’s an energy drink commercial.) Instead, the commercial highlights the San Diego personal injury law firm’s support for a local community athletic center that helps at-risk children, and it encourages viewers to visit the law firm’s website – not to seek money in a personal injury claim, but instead, to be a “champ for these kids, too.” The upbeat, positive tone leaves an impression.

At the start of every year, the team at Consultwebs gathers our top industry specialists, locks them in a room (metaphorically), and asks for their wildest, most data-backed predictions for the future of legal marketing. This year, those insights turned into a massive 20+ page playbook covering everything from AI search disruption to the next evolution of web design and social media.

Now that we’re halfway through the year, it’s time to revisit those predictions and see exactly what we got right.

Let’s dive in!

SEO & AI Search Predictions

SEO is no stranger to rapid changes, especially with AI-driven shifts in the past couple of years. These are the trends we correctly forecasted.

What We Predicted:

“We have to answer people’s searches (now a.k.a, prompts) directly, without having too much fluff. Now it’s not about word count (it hasn’t been for a long time), it’s about answering the search intent with the most relevant information and in the most unique way, so that you can differentiate from others.”

What We’re Seeing:

This continued to grow and become important, giving a unique perspective and data, which is how you get more visibility.

What We Predicted:

“Pages with clear, comprehensive, and first-hand experience-based content will perform better. This is especially true for “Your Money or Your Life” (YMYL) topics like legal advice, where Google holds sites to the highest standard. Law firms need to prove their real-world expertise and authority. Building a standing E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust) is inevitable for law firms.”

What We’re Seeing:

The December 2025 and March 2026 core updates hammered this home; sites that we saw doing this well grew during those updates while sites that lagged or lacked them saw declines.

What We Predicted:

“But this time, not only for Google, but also for ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and so on. Google’s SERP is becoming more visual and interactive, with carousels, grids, and filters taking a larger portion of the screen (As of January 2025, some AIOs have increased to 800px and are predicted to potentially reach 1,000px), particularly on mobile devices. This “visual-first” approach means that content isn’t just about text anymore; it’s about rich media and structured data. It’s especially important for the law firms that are smaller, and those that compete in a large competition.”

What We’re Seeing:

While our prediction about Schema Markup being specifically utilized by AI tools didn’t quite hit the mark, it does still play an important role.

One of the biggest influences on what shows in an AI result is whether the LLM does an external search or just uses its training data. If it uses Google or Bing and searches to look at answers and then factors the results of that search into its own answer, then your ranking and visibility in traditional SEO has a major impact. The features you show up for in those searches are impacted by Schema Markup and other traditional SEO tactics.

What We Predicted:

“Focusing only on Google Search is not enough anymore. It’s not only about the SEO you know of, as per Rand Fishkin. People are searching everywhere. Not being on that platform, you are missing the opportunity of getting cited there and missing the opportunity to beat your competitors. A lot of large platforms have their own AI search results, and if they don’t, they are working hard on getting there. Be prepared. We will continue to see more AI-powered features roll out from Google. Change will be constant, and testing will be a key focus for 2026.”

What We’re Seeing:

This prediction has been spot on and continues to remain relevant. We watched as Reddit was the top cited source in Google AI Overviews, which has changed a bit, and now YouTube has overtaken that, with LinkedIn climbing the ranks as well. We have also seen legal directory sites make a huge comeback as AI models are using them as trusted sources on a regular basis. AI is not looking in one place; it’s looking all over.

What We Predicted:

“AI cannot be tracked like traditional keywords can. The extent of reliable tracking comes from analytics and monitoring the traffic and conversion rates coming from AI platforms. You cannot reliably track visibility, rankings, or anything else tied to AI results in the various platforms or in Google’s AI Overviews. These are already personalized, and this will continue as they provide memory, so the tools remember your likes and dislikes and can further tailor the response. This leads to everything being new and unique.”

What We’re Seeing:

This has continued to be a pain point for marketing professionals; we still do not have reliable tracking, and there are various ways of getting results. It can be broken down into two buckets. LLM-only searches, where it looks only at the data in the model. Then LLM + Search, where it does a live search to look for related results and pull them in to inform its decision.

The search piece is where SEO comes in. If you have good visibility, then you will show up more often. As for tracking, it’s still not great. Recent studies show that you can run a search 100 times, and every time the answer will vary. Also, personalization has become stronger, with more memory, it can remember searches you did previously and other conversations you had, and use that information to help personalize your results.

Web Design Predictions

What We Predicted:

“AI has taken some of the grunt work out of our daily digital workloads and routines. This will apply to web design in the form of AI chatbots that can provide customer service 24/7, 365 days a year. Website search will also be improved with on-site AI tools, providing more accurate and speedy results when searching very large, technical, and content-heavy websites.”

What We’re Seeing:

New AI-fueled chat products launch every day. AI assistance has been increasingly prominent in 2026.

Video Marketing Predictions

Call us Nostradamus, because ALL of our video marketing predictions came true this year. We will be highlighting our favorites, but be sure to check the rest of them out in the full book here.

What We Predicted:

“Large-language-models (LLMs) like Gemini and ChatGPT will lean more on answers that feature video content when applicable, showcasing high-quality content that answers questions in a concise manner. SEO for videos on websites and social media platforms will need to be even more critical for LLMs to recommend them.”

What We’re Seeing:

This couldn’t be truer today. YouTube continues to vie for the number one platform being cited for LLMs like ChatGPT and AI Overviews. Videos are increasingly embedded in AI Overviews as sources of information.

What We Predicted:

“Short-form video content will continue to dominate. We expect to see more short-form content tailored to specific platforms like slightly longer videos for TikTok and shorter ones for Reels. Instead of only repurposing long-form video, more brands will prioritize separate original short-form content for episodic series, interactive shorts, and more. ”

What We’re Seeing:

Short-form videos remain popular for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, with platforms like LinkedIn also continuing to prioritize them. Many social media platforms are also indexed by Google, which helps demonstrate a law firm’s EEAT. Social media plays an integral role in establishing social proof and authority.

What We Predicted:

“AI video floods the market and will continue to do so. Audiences will be seeking proof of human involvement. AI-usage transparency in video content will be under a microscope, with the sentiment leaning toward audiences craving more unpolished human-created videos. Platforms will enforce AI-generated labels.”

What We’re Seeing:

Due to an influx of AI-generated content, major social media platforms, along with websites like Wikipedia, have cracked down on AI content. These new policies continue to evolve with new guidelines and labels rolling out frequently.

What We Predicted:

“Strong hooks and text overlays will be critical. Silent video consumption is widespread (scrolling without sound), and many people who do this will flip right past a video without obvious and attractive captioning.”

What We’re Seeing:

Videos with native or high-quality stylized captions consistently outperform identical videos without them in average watch time. Furthermore, platforms process and index the actual words in your captions, making them a crucial driver for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Strong hooks and text overlays will be critical. Silent video consumption is widespread (scrolling without sound), and many people who do this will flip right past a video without obvious and attractive captioning.

PPC Predictions

Our PPC team correctly predicted many items as well. Google is notoriously cryptic, so it is quite the feat to predict this many items correctly.

What We Predicted:

“AI is Mandatory – AI drives automation, optimization, and predictive campaign performance.”

What We’re Seeing:

Throughout 2026, Google continued expanding AI-powered advertising features, making AI a core part of campaign management. Law firms increasingly relied on AI-driven bidding, audience targeting, and campaign optimization to remain competitive.

What We Predicted:

“Human + AI Balance – Scale with AI while keeping strategy, compliance, and oversight intact.”

What We’re Seeing:

This prediction proved especially accurate for law firms. While AI-generated optimizations helped increase lead volume, many legal advertisers reported lower lead quality and irrelevant case inquiries. Human oversight remained essential to maintain compliance, control search intent, and improve lead qualification.

What We Predicted:

“Tracking Offline Conversions”

What We’re Seeing:

Offline conversion tracking became increasingly important for law firms because signed cases, qualified consultations, and retained clients are stronger indicators of success than online leads alone. Google’s automation systems continue to prioritize high-quality conversion data.

What We Predicted:

“Strengthen First-Party Data Strategy”

What We’re Seeing:

As privacy regulations increased and third-party tracking became less reliable, law firms were encouraged to invest in first-party data strategies, Customer Match, and Enhanced Conversions to improve campaign performance and measurement.

What We Predicted:

“Stay Flexible with Campaign Structures.”

What We’re Seeing:

As Google continued expanding Demand Gen, AI Max, and AI-powered placements, law firms increasingly tested new campaign formats while maintaining Search as the primary lead-generation channel. Successful firms adapted to new formats without abandoning proven search strategies.

Social media changes weekly, daily, sometimes even by the hour. Almost every single prediction in our original book was predicted correctly for Social Media. We’ve highlighted the most noteworthy ones below.

What We Predicted:

“TikTok becomes the new Google (especially for Gen-Z) not only in search, but in Maps. More and more people are turning to TikTok, especially for local searches like businesses (especially law firms!)”

What We’re Seeing:

When users search on TikTok they can filter by nearby businesses and videos. The app also introduced local feeds earlier in the year.

What We Predicted:

“Nostalgia makes a big comeback.”

What We’re Seeing:

Nostalgia is making a huge comeback! It’s primarily driven by Millennials and Gen-Z. More users are using old filters, trends in audio and dance, fashion, unpolished styles, etc.

What We Predicted:

“Governments will regulate platforms even more. We’ve seen it hitting in 2025, and it’s only going to grow. Expect stricter privacy data laws, platform accountability, and stricter local laws.”

What We’re Seeing:

We’ve been sounding bells on this one for years, but with social media lawsuits and AI developing even quicker, this is bound to continue. Examples of public calls for action here and here.

What We Predicted:

“AI-generated tools will become very popular, even more than they currently are (which is super popular). This will force AI users to note when their content is AI-generated.”

What We’re Seeing:

While some gaps still remain, social media platforms have made a significant effort in labeling AI disclosures.

Happy July, everyone! We’ve made it more than halfway through the year of legal marketing updates. We hope you’re sipping on a drink with a little umbrella in it, beachside as you catch up on the latest news.

Here are the updates for this month 👇

🔍 Search

Google is rolling out a type of landing page called Search Profiles. This will have advertisers’ articles, videos, and social posts all in one place, with a profile that links directly back to their social media profiles and websites. These profiles will be on the home page of Google Discover. It’s worth noting that they are currently only available to users with sizeable followings on social media, with availability likely to expand to smaller accounts in time.

🤖AI

ChatGPT’s thinking mode answers prompts differently, which affects how many citations it generates per prompt and the types of citations it produces. Thinking mode cites 4-5 sources instead of 2-3 and avoids sources like Reddit more often. This means that lawyers have more chances of getting cited, but content on Reddit will be less valuable for this specific version of ChatGPT.

Google warns that websites can expose AI agents to hidden traps, raising a new threat as agentic AI begins navigating the open web. It’s crucial to stay vigilant in guarding data privacy when utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs). Consultwebs has created a guide for attorneys on how to best safeguard your LLM usage. Find it here.

🌐Digital Advertising

Google is testing AI summaries with search ads. These summaries are generated by Google. They say these are meant to explain the ads and give potential customers more information to make an informed decision. Advertisers will not be able to control what goes in these summaries, but Google added a disclaimer that they are AI-generated and may be incorrect. They have stated that this is a small test to see how AI can be more fully integrated into search. We will be on the lookout for more information.

ChatGPT is rolling out a new option to upload audience lists in the OpenAI ad platform. Having the audience lists directly on the platform will improve ad targeting for potential clients and ultimately increase reach.

📱Social Media

LinkedIn has rolled out some AI-powered promotional tools for advertisers. These tools will enable advertisers to apply their brand colors to the ad platform. This means that your brand will have more visibility, ultimately making your company more recognizable.

LinkedIn is testing suggested feeds. The update allows the platform to expand content users receive, functioning as a way to keep people engaged for longer. Recommended content for attorneys to post include: edutainment style posts (a blend of education and entertainment), thought leadership, behind-the-scenes glimpses, newsletters, and articles.

As the spring season hits full bloom this May, your firm’s growth should be doing the same. While you focus on advocating for your clients, we’ve been busy tracking the shifts that will define your digital success in the coming months. From major pivots in search behavior to new advertising frontiers on Apple Maps, here is your essential breakdown of the legal marketing news. We’ve cleared away the noise so you can keep your strategy fresh and your momentum strong.

Let’s Get to the Updates!

🔍 Search

Does AI Content Rank Well in Search? To rank #1, human authorship is non-negotiable. While AI can be an ideation and drafting tool, the data shows a performance gap at the top of search results: Human-Written is at 80% probability of ranking #1. AI-Generated – is at 9% probability of ranking #1. The Verdict – AI is an efficient engine, but it isn’t a hands-free shortcut. If you want your firm to dominate high-value keywords, human-written content is required to bridge the gap and secure the top spot.

Google announced a new spam policy targeting sites that interfere with browser back button navigation. Enforcement starts June 15, 2026. Sites have two months to remove offending code. If those actions are not removed, it will result in reduced visibility in Google Search results.

Google’s new agentic features — including AI Mode, calling local businesses on a user’s behalf — confirm that Search is shifting from a list of links toward an execution layer that completes tasks for users. The website’s job is changing from “destination” to “data source.” For law firms, that means accurate, machine-readable information about practice areas, intake availability, jurisdictions, and consultation policies — delivered through clean semantic HTML and Schema.org markup — is now table stakes. If an AI agent can’t parse it, it can’t surface you when a user asks it to find them a lawyer.

🤖AI

Wikipedia Bans Use Of AI-Generated Content. Whether you’ve used it to quickly research or if you’ve utilized it to manage a listing of your law firm’s information, Wikipedia is a household name. One that no longer allows AI-generated content. Their new policy reinforces that Wikipedia content must be verifiable and written by humans who can be held accountable for neutral point-of-view standards.

🌐Digital Advertising

Apple launched Apple Business on April 14, allowing businesses in the U.S. and Canada to place local ads within Apple Maps starting this summer. Ads will appear based on relevance in search results and a Suggested Places section across Apple devices, with no minimum spend or long-term commitments required. Apple Maps advertising targets high-intent users on premium devices while maintaining strict privacy standards by keeping personal data on users’ devices. Law firms should claim their Apple Business listing, optimize their place card, and prepare verification documents to be ready for launch. This new advertising channel offers law firms an opportunity to reach potential clients early, before competition increases. Consultwebs is happy to help with any questions you may have about this change.

Meta Removed Ads Targeting Social Media Harm. There was an influx of legal ads targeting social media harm being removed from Meta in April. It affected large, national law firms, as well as local firms. Axios said that in order to negate this and stop lawyers from using its platform to seek damages against the business, Meta used a clause in its terms and conditions relating to “adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Meta” to remove the ads.

For the First Time, Meta Is On Track to Overtake Google in Global Ad Revenue. Meta is forecast to capture 26.8% of global ad spend. Google is projected to take 26.4%. Platform dynamics can change quickly. While Meta may be overtaking the ad share, it’s still very important for competitive niches like the legal industry to remain agile, and maintain a steady presence in both, funneling higher budgets into the platform that works best for your law firm.

LSAs will soon begin using the web URLs identified in your LSA ads account to generate content like business and service descriptions, special offerings, pricing information, and discounts for your ads. Source: Consultwebs Trusted Google Representative

Meta Sued by Consumer Federation of America. A new lawsuit alleges that the company profited from scam advertising and intentionally allowed fake promotions to continue despite public promises to crack down. Reports, which were based on internal documents from the company, indicated that at least at one stage, Meta was generating around $16 billion per year, or 10% of its annual revenue, from scam advertising and/or promotions for banned goods. Given the prevalence of online scam activity, this could be an interesting trial to monitor. In particular, this will be notable in regard to the interpretation of laws relating to how social media platforms police scam ads, as well as the expectations within the law around these processes.

📱Social Media

Meta Ends End-to-end Encryption on Instagram. Beginning May 8th, Instagram is ending end-to-end encryption on their messages. Originally, it was rolled out in August 2022 as a part of a security push. Meta hasn’t yet responded on the why behind this change. It’s possible this change could affect data gathering for attorneys in criminal cases.

LinkedIn Article Posts Are a Leading Source for AI Search Citations. The platform has come out with a guide to help users who want to capitalize on that visibility. They share 4 key tips: deliver valuable insights and data, build an ongoing newsletter with LinkedIn, make content readable and easy to consume, and highlight executive thought leadership.

Instagram Allows Users to Schedule Trial Reels. Trial reels have been one of the fastest ways to grow on Instagram for some time, and now Meta is giving users more control by allowing them to be scheduled. Attorneys can draft video content in batches and schedule them in advance.

Stay LAWsome–We’ll See You Again Next Month!

As May rolls on, we hope these takeaways help you fine-tune your digital presence and stay one step ahead of the competition. While you focus on winning cases this spring, we’ll be keeping a close watch on the marketing updates.

Look out for our June update, where we’ll bring you a fresh set of trends to ensure your firm’s strategy remains bulletproof.

Until next month!

Technology moves fast. Law firms that move with it can serve their clients better and increase revenue with less stress along the way. On the other hand, firms that resist change are likely to face more stress and confusion, leading to lost opportunities and lost revenue.

At Consultwebs, we don’t offer just top-quality digital legal marketing services. We help law firms stay on the cutting edge in their practice. Our team studies how technology shapes intake, case management, marketing, and client communication, allowing us to help law firms increase efficiency and boost revenue without sacrificing client service.

If you’re looking for the best legal practice management software in 2026, we’ve got you covered. Here, we provide a glance at some of the most convenient and effective platforms for legal professionals, including how they can benefit your firm, the pros/cons of each, what features matter most, and how to choose the one best suited for your practice.

What Is Law Practice Management Software?

Law practice management software (LPMS) provides law firms with a centralized system for managing their daily operations. An effective practice management system connects a firm’s cases, clients, documents, billing, tasks, and communications into one seamless, easy-to-use platform. Instead of juggling spreadsheets, email threads, paper files, and various disconnected tools, you work inside one organized environment.

Most modern platforms offer:

  • Case and matter management
  • Document storage and automation
  • Time tracking and billing
  • Client communication tools
  • Reporting and analytics
  • Calendar and deadline tracking

In 2026, cloud-based systems will dominate the market. They allow attorneys and staff to log in securely from anywhere. Firms no longer depend on in-office servers or manual backups. These cloud-based legal practice management solutions have evolved from a matter of convenience to an absolute necessity for firms seeking to remain competitive in an increasingly crowded market.

How Can Legal Practice Management Software Benefit Your Law Firm?

The right LPMS does more than organize files and manage communications. It transforms how your firm operates. Here’s how these practice management tools can benefit your team:

Efficiency

Your staff can waste hours every week doing repetitive manual tasks that prevent them from using the skills you hired them for in the first place. A centralized system cuts down this time-consuming work and standardizes workflows, increasing efficiency and improving profitability.

Client Experience

Clients expect (and deserve) transparency and communication. Practice management tools help you:

  • Track every touchpoint
  • Respond faster
  • Share updates securely
  • Send automated reminders

Perhaps the number one way to build trust with your firm is to keep your clients in the loop so they feel both valued and informed. Trust drives referrals and positive reviews.

Billing Accuracy

Missed time equals lost revenue. Built-in time-tracking tools help attorneys capture every billable minute clearly and accurately, reducing disputes and allowing attorneys more time to focus on the case itself. Online payment features provide greater convenience to clients and speed up collections.

Risk Reduction

Missed deadlines and lost documents lead to malpractice exposure. A strong platform helps you:

  • Track statutes of limitations
  • Automate deadline reminders
  • Store files securely
  • Maintain audit trails

Data-Driven Insights

Well-organized data offers a clear picture of your firm’s operations, providing insight into its strengths and weaknesses. Reporting tools show you:

  • Case duration trends
  • Revenue by practice area
  • Staff productivity metrics
  • Lead-to-client conversion rates

When you understand your numbers, you can make smarter growth decisions. Strong practice management software makes it easier than ever before to gather and analyze those numbers.

Consultwebs’ Top Picks for the Best Law Practice Management Software for 2026

Consultwebs works with law firms across the country, giving us unique insight into which platforms support growth and which slow our clients down. Here are our picks for the best law practice management software in 2026:

  • Clio – Clio is one of the most popular cloud-based platforms. It offers strong billing tools, integrations, flexibility, and a user-friendly design. Many small and mid-sized firms favor this platform.
  • Filevine – Filevine excels in workflow automation and customization. Litigation-focused firms appreciate its advanced task management tools.
  • Litify – Litify runs on Salesforce and delivers powerful CRM capabilities. Firms that want deep customization and enterprise-level reporting often select this platform.
  • CASEPeer – CASEPeer focuses heavily on personal injury firms. It provides built-in reporting and settlement tracking tailored to PI practices.
  • SmartAdvocate – SmartAdvocate delivers powerful case tracking and automation features. Mid-sized firms tend to prefer this software.
  • Smokeball – Smokeball emphasizes automatic time tracking and document automation. Firms that prioritize billing capture find strong value with this platform.
  • PracticePanther – PracticePanther offers ease of use and solid integrations. Growing firms often appreciate its combination of simplicity and efficiency.
  • MyCase – MyCase provides strong client communication tools and straightforward billing features. Smaller firms frequently choose it for affordability and ease of use.
  • Rocket Matter – This program focuses on performance reporting and business intelligence. Data-driven firms often prefer this platform.
  • CARET Legal – CARET Legal combines accounting and practice management tools into a single, simple platform. Firms that want integrated financial tracking may prefer it.

What Features Should You Look for in Law Practice Management Software?

As the above list shows, not all platforms offer the same features and benefits. You should evaluate tools based on your firm’s size, practice area, unique needs, and growth goals. Some key features to consider include:

Case Management

This feature serves as the foundation of any legal platform. The best case management tools for lawyers should allow you to:

  • Create detailed matter profiles
  • Track case milestones
  • Assign team members
  • Monitor status updates
  • Store notes and communications in one place

Strong legal case management software makes life easier for you and your staff by keeping everyone aligned and accountable. By extension, the client experience you offer will also become stronger as cases move more smoothly and efficiently.

Document Management

Messy, disorganized documents kill productivity, increase stress, and raise the risk of critical errors. Your platform should:

  • Store documents securely
  • Support version control
  • Offer full-text search
  • Allow folder organization by matter
  • Integrate with document automation tools

With these tools, you should find any document in seconds rather than minutes, and lost documents should become a thing of the past.

Calendar and Scheduling

In the legal industry, missed deadlines have consequences. Your platform should help you avoid this issue by offering:

  • Court rule-based deadline calculators
  • Shared firm calendars
  • Automated reminders
  • Integration with Outlook or Google Calendar
  • Appointment scheduling tools

Time Tracking and Billing

Revenue depends on accurate billing and your firm’s integrity. Strong billing features should include:

  • Built-in timers
  • Manual time entry options
  • LEDES billing support
  • Trust accounting tools
  • Online payment processing
  • Automated invoice generation

Task Management

Every case requires dozens of tasks. So, disorganization can significantly impact outcomes. A task management system should:

  • Assign responsibilities
  • Set due dates
  • Send reminders
  • Track completion status
  • Link tasks directly to matters

Contact Management

Poor contact management can create confusion and impact efficiency. Your software should maintain contact records for:

  • Clients
  • Leads
  • Opposing counsel
  • Experts
  • Vendors

Look for the following features:

  • Custom fields
  • Contact tagging
  • Interaction history tracking
  • Easy import/export tools

Reporting and Analytics

Data offers valuable insight into your firm’s operations and drives growth. Choose platforms that offer:

  • Financial reporting
  • Productivity dashboards
  • Case performance metrics
  • Custom report creation
  • Visual charts and summaries

Communication Tools

Integrated communications provide simplicity, clarity, and transparency that can strengthen client relationships. Prioritize systems that offer:

  • Client portals
  • Secure messaging
  • SMS reminders
  • Email tracking
  • Communication logs tied to cases

Mobile Access

Mobility supports flexibility and responsiveness, allowing attorneys to work everywhere and do so efficiently and effectively. Your platform should provide:

  • Secure mobile apps
  • Full access to case files
  • Mobile time tracking
  • Push notifications
  • Document viewing and sharing

Customer Relationship Management

Intake drives revenue. Strong legal CRM software makes it easier than ever to accelerate growth. Built-in CRM features help you:

  • Track leads
  • Score prospects
  • Automate follow-ups
  • Monitor conversion rates
  • Analyze marketing performance

Security Features

Your legal practice management software should help you protect the sensitive data your firm handles (and, in turn, protect your firm’s reputation). Look for the following features:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Two-factor authentication
  • Role-based permissions
  • Regular security audits
  • Secure cloud hosting

Task Automation

By taking on repetitive tasks, automation saves time and reduces errors. In turn, it lets your team focus on more complicated and significant work. Look for tools that:

  • Auto-generate tasks based on case type
  • Trigger reminders
  • Send automated emails
  • Create document drafts from templates

Workflow Management

Standardized workflows create consistency, reduce confusion, and improve efficiency. Your platform should allow you to:

  • Build custom workflows by practice areas
  • Sets stage-based task triggers
  • Track case progress visually
  • Identify bottlenecks

Client Intake Forms

Fast, convenient intake improves conversion rates and streamlines the process. Strong intake tools offer:

  • Customizable online forms
  • Conditional logic
  • Automated routing
  • Integration with CRM tools
  • eSignature capabilities

Conflict Checking

Identifying potential conflicts of interest remains critical for every firm. Reliable conflict-checking software efficiently reduces ethical risk. Look for software that can:

  • Search across contacts and matters
  • Flag potential conflicts
  • Log approval processes
  • Maintain documentation

Email Management

Email overload creates chaos, slows teams down, and opens the door for critical errors. Integrated email management keeps records complete and helps your firm avoid common issues. Choose a platform that:

  • Syncs with Outlook or Gmail
  • Saves emails to matters automatically
  • Tracks conversations by client
  • Reduces manual copying and pasting

Forms and Templates

Templates eliminate repetitive, time-consuming drafting and create standardized forms that improve consistency. Look for software that offers:

  • Customizable document templates
  • Automated merge fields
  • Practice-area-specific forms
  • Easy editing tools

Customizable Dashboards

Dashboards provide organization and keep your firm focused on priorities. Your platform should allow:

  • Custom widgets
  • Revenue tracking at a glance
  • Case status overviews
  • Staff performance summaries

What Questions Should You Ask During Software Legal Practice Management Demos?

Software demos often look impressive, but they rarely offer the full picture. You should always ask plenty of questions before signing a contract. Make sure you get the answers you need by asking about the following:

Functionality

Always request a trial with real cases, and inquire about the big picture of a given software’s functionality by asking:

  • Does the system support your specific practice area?
  • Can you customize workflows?
  • Does it integrate with your existing tools?
  • Can you test real scenarios during the demo?

Pricing and Contracts

Pricing and contracts can vary widely depending on the service. Transparency prevents surprises and allows you to make an informed purchase. Be sure to ask:

  • Do you pay per user?
  • Are there onboarding fees?
  • Does the vendor require annual commitments?
  • What happens if you cancel early?

Security and Compliance

Understanding key security and compliance details can help you avoid serious issues that can compromise both your firm’s data and its integrity. Before signing any contracts, ask:

  • Where does the vendor store data?
  • What certifications does the company maintain?
  • How often does the vendor conduct audits?
  • How does the system protect trust accounting?

Support and Training

Getting the hang of new software takes time, and issues requiring support will inevitably arise, even well after you understand the platform. Get an idea of how the vendor can help you by asking:

  • Does the vendor offer live onboarding?
  • What support hours do they provide?
  • Do they offer video tutorials?
  • Is phone support available?

Updates and Roadmap

The platform may look great now, but stagnation limits growth. Inquire about the future of the software by asking:

  • How often does the company release updates?
  • What features will they add next?
  • How does the vendor gather user feedback?

Data Ownership and Migration

Data portability protects your firm, and so does understanding how a given vendor handles this aspect of their platform. When making a law firm software comparison, be sure to ask:

  • Who owns your data?
  • How easily can you export it?
  • Does the vendor assist with migration?
  • What format will your data come in?

Customization Options

Every firm has unique needs, and a flexible platform can help you meet yours, with greater ease and efficiency. You can get an idea of a platform’s flexibility by asking:

  • Can you tailor feeds and workflows?
  • Can you adjust dashboards?
  • Does the system support custom reports?

Integration

A platform that integrates seamlessly with your firm’s other software can reduce duplication and improve efficiency. Ask the following about the software:

  • Does it integrate with accounting tools?
  • Does it connect with marketing CRMs?
  • Can it link to your website’s intake forms?
  • Does it support document automation platforms?

What Are Some Common Mistakes Made When Choosing Legal Practice Management Software?

Choosing their LPMS based solely on price is the most common mistake that firms make. Many firms focus on monthly subscription costs instead of long-term return on investment. However, with lower-cost platforms, they may face:

  • Limit automation features
  • Restrict integrations
  • Charge extra for reporting
  • Offer minimal onboarding support
  • Require costly add-ons

The “you get what you pay for” adage frequently applies to these platforms. Saving $40 per user each month may sound cost-effective on the surface, but if the platform doesn’t drive efficiency and revenue growth, you may ultimately lose money in the long run.

Some other mistakes that law firms can make when choosing their LMPS include:

Not Testing with Your Actual Workflow

A polished demo may look enticing. However, it may not reflect your firm’s real daily operations. Vendors often showcase:

  • Pre-built sample cases
  • Ideal workflows
  • Simplified task chains

Meanwhile, to understand how the platform works for your firm, you need to test:

  • A real intake scenario
  • A real litigation timeline
  • A real billing cycle
  • A real document automation process

Test out the platform by applying it to real scenarios and tasks. If issues arise during testing, those issues will only multiply after adoption.

Ignoring Staff Input

Partners may make a final decision without consulting the people who will use the system daily. Your intake team, paralegals, and billing staff understand the inner workings of your firm’s daily operations better than anyone. When leadership excludes them:

  • Adoption suffers
  • Resistance increases
  • Workarounds develop
  • Productivity drops

Involve representatives from each department during evaluation. Ask them to test features and collect structured feedback before signing a contract.

Overlooking Integration Needs

Disconnected systems create chaos and inefficiency. If you want to optimize your firm’s operations, you need practice management software that integrates with your:

  • Accounting platform
  • Legal CRM software
  • Email provider
  • Document automation tools
  • Marketing intake system

Ask the vendor to provide a complete integration list. Confirm that integrations work both ways, not just in one direction.

Failing to Plan for Growth

Some firms choose software that works for today, but doesn’t account for future expansion. Before signing a contract, ask yourself:

  • Can the system handle multiple offices?
  • Can it support new practice areas?
  • Can it scale to 50+ users?
  • Does it offer enterprise reporting?
  • Can it support advanced automation?

Switching platforms every few years disrupts operations. Choose a system that supports your five-year growth plan.

Not Reading the Contract Carefully

Law firms typically have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting contracts. Surprisingly, that doesn’t stop some of them from missing the following in their software management contracts:

  • Auto-renewal clauses
  • Early termination penalties
  • Price escalation terms
  • Data export fees
  • Storage limits.

Carefully review the terms of a contract and consider the implications before signing. If you find anything considered a deal-breaker, negotiate when possible to protect your flexibility and avoid unnecessary fees.

Skipping Proper Training

Your firm may find a perfect platform. Still, without proper adoption, it can fail to provide the benefits you sought. Training for your new management software should include:

  • Live onboarding sessions
  • Recorded tutorials
  • Written SOP documentation
  • Role-specific workflows
  • Follow-up Q&A sessions

Make this training mandatory and set expectations for usage. Ensure effective adoption by tracking metrics during the first 90 days and providing a simple way for users to provide actionable feedback.

Underestimating Implementation Time

Firms that plan implementation strategically and anticipate accurate implementation time see faster return on investment and smoother adoption. Remember that implementation requires:

  • Data migration
  • Workflow mapping
  • Template creation
  • Staff training
  • Integration testing

Rushed rollouts create frustration and ultimately slow the process down. Assign a project lead, set clear milestones, and allow time for adjustment before fully transitioning away from old systems.

Frequently Asked Questions About Law Practice Management Software

Here are the answers to some of the most common questions that law firms ask when choosing law practice management software:

How much does law practice management software cost?

Pricing typically ranges from $40 to $150 per user per month. Enterprise systems may cost more. Final pricing depends on features, user count, and contract terms.

Is cloud-based software secure enough for law firms?

Yes, reputable vendors implement encryption, secure hosting, and multi-factor authentication to protect firms that use their software. In fact, many cloud systems offer stronger security than in-house servers.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation timelines depend largely on the platform and the size of the firm. Small law firms may complete setup within a few weeks. Larger firms may require months for migration, customization, and training.

Can practice management software integrate with marketing tools?

Many platforms integrate with CRMs, intake systems, accounting software, and other marketing tools. Integration benefits firms by ensuring leads move smoothly from marketing to case management.

Do small law firms really need practice management software?

Yes, even solo attorneys benefit from the organization, automation, billing features, and deadline tracking that practice management software provides. A more efficient, effective firm can gain clients and improve profitability more easily.

Don’t spend your billable hours chasing algorithm changes. The Consultwebs Monthly Update is back with the essential legal marketing news for March. We’ve distilled this month’s biggest shifts into need-to-know highlights so you can stay informed and stay focused on your practice.

Let’s Get to the Updates!

🔍 Search

Google has released a new core update for 2026. Google says the update is going to English users first and will roll out to the other countries and languages in the upcoming weeks.

Penske Media Corporation has filed an antitrust lawsuit claiming that Google is monopolizing and cannibalizing search traffic. Search Engine Journal states that the media corporation argues – “Google’s search monopoly leaves publishers with no choice: acquiesce—even as Google cannibalizes the traffic publishers rely on—or perish.” While Google argues that no reciprocity agreement exists because it has not “promised to deliver” any search referral traffic. For attorneys, this means it’s even more important to be aware of how AI search functions and to optimize your law firm’s website for it. Learn how to own your community, build your lists, be where your audience is (socials, forums, etc.), and be less reliant on Google. Consultwebs is happy to speak with attorneys about how to accomplish this!

🤖AI

ChatGPT has begun ad testing on select advertiser accounts. The test is live for logged-in adult users in the U.S. on the free and Go subscription tiers. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education subscribers won’t see ads. Currently, their minimum investment price is steep, but subject to change while they are still in the testing stages. We will continue to update as new information is released.

🌐Digital Advertising

Other marketers have noticed the re-enabling of paused keywords. Until Google confirms this, it may be a bug. A close eye is being kept on this, and we are monitoring the issue ourselves. We have not seen this issue happen with our clients at this time, but we will be sure to give updates when they are available.

Google is rolling out a new “Search Intent” filter in the Local Services Ads (LSA) Provider Portal that gives law firms clearer insight into where their leads are actually coming from and what they’re paying for. There will be a new Search Intent column in the Leads Inbox and summary. New filters in reporting to break down spend and leads by: All, Category, and Direct Business Search. The full rollout was scheduled for January 8th, but there have been delays. The changes will help law firms make more informed marketing and budgeting decisions.

Recently, Threads tested advertising placements on their platforms in small scale. Now the app is ready to roll them out globally. These ads are fully integrated into the Meta ecosystem, and with the global rollout comes more advanced ad formats. While delivery will start low, early adoption and trials of these ads could potentially give law firms a competitive edge as they scale.

📱Social Media

TikTok has announced that it is starting to implement local feed into its algorithm. This means that lawyers will be able to use TikTok to reach potential customers and other partners on a more local level instead of a broader nationwide approach. We advise attorneys to ensure their location is in bio, locations are tagged on videos, and to use keywords in captions, letting users know your location.

AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Perplexity (LLMs) are getting their information from LinkedIn 4 to 5 times more than last year. A study taken in October 2025 shows that LLMs are citing LinkedIn more than any other source aside from Reddit and YouTube. Though there is no way to tell which articles they are using, having a verified profile and posting articles directly to LinkedIn can improve a law firm’s visibility in AI search engines.

The long-awaited TikTok ownership battle is over. The app now has a revised operating structure in the US only, built with Oracle at the helm. While minimal change is to be expected, several users have reported glitching and feed changes. As always, Consultwebs advises attorneys to have a multi-channel social media strategy in place to prevent over-reliance on one. We will continue to update about the app’s viability.

Like most legal professionals, you may constantly need to insert symbols like the section sign (§), the paragraph mark (¶), and the copyright symbol (©) countless times when you are drafting legal documents. Instead of hunting through menus or copying and pasting, you can use keyboard shortcuts on both Windows and Mac computers to insert these legal symbols.

As we discuss in this article, with a few simple key combinations, you can save time and meet your firm’s drafting goals much more efficiently.

How Do Keyboard Shortcuts Work?

Keyboard shortcuts are combinations of keys that perform specific tasks on your computer. Most shortcuts involve holding down a modifier key (like Control, Command, or Alt) while pressing another key. Here are some common legal keyboard shortcuts that can make your daily work easier:

  • To print – Ctrl/Command+P lets you send your document to the printer without clicking through menus, saving time when you need hard copies quickly.
  • To make text bold – Ctrl/Command+B applies bold formatting to selected text, making it easy to emphasize important terms or headings.
  • To make text italics – Ctrl/Command+I changes your text to italics, which is helpful for case names and other citations.
  • To make text underlined – Ctrl/Command+U underlines selected text, helping you draw attention to specific passages.
  • To cut text – Ctrl/Command+X removes selected text and stores it temporarily so you can move it to a new location.
  • To find a specific word in text – Ctrl/Command+F opens a search box that helps you locate specific terms quickly in long documents.
  • To save your document – Ctrl/Command+S saves your work instantly, protecting you from losing progress if your computer crashes.
  • To select all the text in a document – Ctrl/Command+A highlights everything in your document at once, making it easy to copy or format large sections.

These shortcuts work the same way whether you use Windows (with the Ctrl key) or Mac (with the Command key). Once you get comfortable with these basic shortcuts, learning legal symbol shortcuts will feel natural.

What Are the Benefits of Using Legal Symbol Keyboard Shortcuts?

Keyboard shortcuts offer several real advantages. Specifically, these shortcuts allow you to:

  • Increase your speed by letting you keep typing without having to use menus
  • Reduce errors that happen when copying symbols with extra formatting
  • Ensure consistent formatting throughout your documents.

At first, you may not feel like you’re saving a lot of time. It may take you more time than you think it’s worth to learn the different keyboard combinations. However, once you memorize them, the keyboard shortcuts can become second nature and easily flow into your drafting process.

Here Are Some of the Most Used Legal Symbols and the Shortcuts for Them

Legal writing often requires inserting special symbols that don’t appear on standard keyboards. Here’s how to type the most common legal symbols on both Windows and Mac computers:

  • Section (§) – The legal section symbol consists of two S shapes stacked on top of each other. You’ll use this keyboard symbol constantly when citing statutes, codes, and regulations. On Windows, hold down the Alt key and type 0167 on your number pad, then release Alt. On Mac, press Option+6.
  • Paragraph (¶) – The paragraph symbol looks like a backward P with a double stem. It appears frequently when you need to cite specific paragraphs in complaints, contracts, or other legal documents. Windows users should hold Alt and type 0182. Mac users can press Option+7.
  • Copyright (©) – The copyright symbol is a small letter C enclosed in a circle. This symbol is essential for copyright notices and intellectual property documents. On Windows, hold Alt and type 0169. On Mac, press Option+G.
  • Trademark (™) – The trademark symbol appears as a superscript TM and indicates unregistered trademarks. To insert it on Windows, hold Alt and type 0153. Mac users can press Option+2.
  • Registered Trademark (®) – The registered trademark symbol is an R inside a circle. It designates trademarks that have been officially registered with the government. Windows users should hold Alt and type 0174. On Mac, press Option+R.
  • Plaintiff (π) – Some legal writers use the Greek letter pi to represent plaintiffs in documents. Use of the plaintiff symbol can make pleadings shorter and easier to read. On Windows, hold Alt and type 227. Mac users can press Option+P.
  • Defendant (∆) – Similarly, the Greek letter delta can represent defendants in legal writing. To insert it on Windows, hold Alt and type 30. On Mac, press Option+J.
  • Em Dash (—) – The em dash is a long dash used to set off clauses or create emphasis. It’s longer than a regular hyphen and adds polish to your writing. Windows users should hold Alt and type 0151. Mac users can press Option+Shift+Hyphen.
  • En Dash (–) – The en dash is slightly longer than a hyphen but shorter than an em dash. It’s typically used for ranges, such as page numbers or dates. On Windows, hold Alt and type 0150. On Mac, press Option+Hyphen.

How Can You Add Legal Symbol Keyboard Shortcuts to Microsoft Word?

Microsoft Word offers a built-in feature that lets you create your own legal symbol shortcuts. Here’s how to create custom shortcuts for legal symbols:

  • Start by opening Word and clicking “Insert,” then select “Symbol” and “More Symbols.” Find the symbol you want, then click it.
  • At the bottom of the dialog box, click “Shortcut Key.” In the new window, place your cursor in the “Press new shortcut key” box and press the key combination you want to use. Word will tell you if that combination is already assigned.

If the shortcut is available, click “Assign.” Your new shortcut is now active in any Word document.

How Can You Create Your Own Keyboard Shortcuts?

Beyond Microsoft Word, you can set up shortcuts that work in any application. On Mac computers, open System Preferences and click “Keyboard,” then select “Text.” Click the plus sign, type your shortcut in “Replace,” and paste the symbol in “With.” This process for creating your own shortcuts works across all Mac applications.

Windows users can achieve similar results using AutoCorrect in Microsoft Office applications.

Can You Create Legal Symbol Shortcuts for iPhone or Android Phones?

You can set up new keyboard shortcuts on your smartphone and save time when you insert legal symbols just as you do on your computer. The steps you take depend on the device type.

  • For iPhone users, copy the symbol you need, then open Settings and go to General > Keyboard > Text Replacement. Tap the plus sign, paste the symbol in “Phrase,” and type your shortcut in “Shortcut.” Tap “Save.”
  • For Samsung Android devices, open Settings > General Management > Samsung Keyboard Settings > Text Shortcuts. Tap the plus sign, paste your symbol in “Shortcut,” type your trigger phrase in “Expanded Phrase,” and tap “Add.”

You can also access some symbols directly by pressing and holding related keys on your mobile keyboard.

Make Legal Document Management More Efficient

Learning keyboard shortcuts for legal symbols is just one way to improve how you work. These small efficiency gains add up over time, giving you more hours to focus on substantive legal work rather than formatting and document preparation.

When you write a strong demand letter, you set the tone for your client’s personal injury claim. The letter outlines what happened, who is responsible, and how much money your client deserves as fair compensation for the physical, emotional, and financial harm they have suffered. It also demonstrates that you take the matter seriously and expect the other party to do the same.

If your law firm sends a rushed or boilerplate demand letter, you risk delaying the claims process and weakening your position during negotiations with the other party’s insurer. On the other hand, if you prepare a clear, well-supported letter, it could lead to productive settlement negotiations and a highly favorable outcome.

What Is a Personal Injury Demand Letter?

A well-crafted demand letter to the opposing party or their insurance carrier sets the tone for the negotiation process and serves many other purposes. The demand letter:

  • Formally presents the client’s claim for damages
  • Outlines the facts based on the evidence
  • Explains the legal grounds for the other party’s liability
  • Documents the client’s losses
  • Describes the client’s physical pain and suffering and their emotional harm
  • Makes an explicit request for the other party to provide compensation.

The demand letter can demonstrate the strength of your client’s case and support their demand with detailed evidence. It serves as the first opportunity in the personal injury claims process to lay out the full scope of your client’s claim, including their injuries, medical bills, income losses, and non-economic damages.

Ultimately, a well-structured demand letter helps you frame the issues, clarify expectations, and help you avoid unnecessary litigation if the other side takes it seriously.

An experienced personal injury lawyer treats every demand letter as a strategic tool rather than a formality. The goal of the letter is to facilitate a fair settlement on the client’s terms. It may lead to a more timely resolution and a favorable settlement in the client’s case.

What Are the Key Elements of an Effective Personal Injury Demand Letter?

An effective demand letter includes more than a dollar amount. It presents a straightforward, fact-based narrative of what happened in the accident resulting in your client’s injuries, along with supporting evidence, and it explains why the other party should be held legally responsible.

Even though you must tailor the settlement demand letter to the unique facts and circumstances of your client’s case, you should ensure it contains the following basic elements of a demand letter:

  • A summary of the facts, without any commentary, which provides names of all parties involved, a description of the accident, the extent of the client’s injuries, potential witness statements, and a timeline of the events, including communications with the insurance company
  • A thorough description of your client’s injuries, treatments, and prognosis, with medical records and provider documentation
  • A list of all necessary, accident-related expenses, including past medical costs and projected future medical expenses, wage losses, and loss of future earning ability
  • The basis for non-economic damages you may seek, such as physical pain and suffering or emotional distress (for example, a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • A specific settlement demand dollar amount and a deadline for the other side’s response.

If you structure the demand letter correctly, it will help the insurance adjuster or opposing counsel review the claim, recognize its strengths, and understand the consequences if they fail to reply with a full and fair settlement offer within a reasonable time.

Why Do Demand Letters Matter in Personal Injury Cases?

Demand letters serve as a starting point and a filter in personal injury cases. A strong, well-documented demand letter can accomplish many goals.

Specifically, the demand letter can:

  • Push the insurer or defense lawyer to take your client’s case seriously
  • Define the claim’s value
  • Set expectations for the opposing side
  • Outline a clear path to resolution
  • Preserve the record if your case proceeds to litigation
  • Support later arguments for bad-faith insurance practices.

A weak or vague demand letter, on the other hand, will likely invite delays, lowball offers, or outright rejections. As a result, the letter may fail to promote a favorable or timely outcome.

Attorneys should draft well-supported, persuasive demand letters to control the narrative, demonstrate preparation, and signal their willingness to litigate if necessary. When drafted correctly, a demand letter can shorten the timeline to resolution and increase the value of a claim.

What Happens After the Demand Letter?

The steps that come after you send a personal injury demand letter depend on how the other side responds. However, most claims follow a familiar pattern from that point forward. Here are the four main stages of the process that typically take place after a demand letter goes out:

  • Settlement offer – The insurance company or opposing party may respond to the demand letter with an offer to resolve the claim. However, the offer rarely matches the original demand. The other side is simply testing whether you’re willing to settle quickly. Review every settlement offer carefully and compare it to the damages you’ve documented. If the amount falls short of covering your losses, be prepared to push back with evidence that supports your position.
  • Counteroffer – If your client received a low initial offer, you will likely make a counteroffer after consultation with the client. The counteroffer gives you a chance to show that you’re prepared, informed, and not settling for less than what your client’s claim is worth. Your counteroffer should include a specific dollar amount and a brief explanation of how you arrived at it. You can revise your demand slightly to reflect new information, like ongoing treatment or additional costs for your client.
  • Denial – In some cases, the other side may reject the claim entirely. They may dispute liability, question the cause of your client’s injuries, or argue that the damages don’t justify the amount of compensation your client demands.

A denial doesn’t end the process. However, it does raise the stakes. If you believe the claim has merit, your next steps may involve sending additional evidence or preparing to file a lawsuit. Still, a denial often signals that informal talks may not lead to a fair result.

  • Litigation – If negotiation doesn’t lead to a fair agreement, you may decide to take the case to court. Filing a lawsuit leads to discovery and depositions. Some cases still settle before trial. However, once litigation begins, both sides must comply with court rules and meet deadlines. Litigation also increases pressure, which can help stalled claims move forward.

What Should You Avoid When Writing a Personal Injury Demand Letter?

Every day, adjusters and defense counsel read demand letters. If your letter reads like a generic template or lacks documentation, they may ignore it. However, if you prepare your letter carefully and deliberately, you can control the discussion from the start.

When you prepare the demand letter, you should avoid the following pitfalls:

  • Submitting the letter without a firm understanding of your client’s full medical treatment history and costs. Guesswork undermines your credibility and weakens your position in future negotiations.
  • Avoid vague claims, inflated figures, and unsupported statements. If you cannot support your allegations and the amount you claim in damages, the other side won’t take the case seriously.
  • Stay away from emotional language, unnecessary commentary, or overstatements about liability. Skip long background narratives and focus on key facts. A demand letter should read like a legal communication, not a complaint.
  • Do not demand an unrealistic amount just to leave room for negotiation. Anchoring too high can stall discussions and make the other side question your intent.

What Do You Do If You Do Not Get a Reply to Your Demand Letter?

Sometimes, insurers delay because they assume personal injury claimants will not follow through on the matter, even when a lawyer sent the demand letter. You should treat silence from the other side as a deliberate tactic and make sure you respond.

Do not rely on repeated calls or informal outreach. Instead, if you do not receive a response by the deadline, you should take steps that include:

  • Following up in writing immediately. Confirm receipt of the letter and remind the recipient of the deadline. Keep the letter’s tone professional, but do not allow the delay to go unchecked.
  • Consider setting a second deadline. Depending on the case and the insurer, a second deadline may help to move the case forward. However, if there is no meaningful response, begin preparing the case for litigation.
  • If you suspect bad-faith dealing, document everything. Preserve email records, postal receipts, and internal notes. In some jurisdictions, proof of unreasonable delays may support a later claim for bad-faith damages.

It’s time for the Consultwebs monthly Legal Digital Marketing Industry Updates! Each month, we round up the must-know legal digital marketing updates for busy attorneys. Find this month’s highlights of bite-sized, need-to-know news below.

Let’s Get to the Updates!

🤖AI

  • Microsoft published guidance on how duplicate content affects AI search visibility, explaining that AI systems cluster similar pages and may surface unintended versions. In short, cleaning up near-duplicates can influence which version of your content gets surfaced when a Microsoft AI system needs a single page to ground an answer.

🔎SEO

  • Google completed the December core update. It started on December 11, 2025, and was completed approximately 18 days later on December 29, 2025. Google called this update “a regular update designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites.”

📣Paid Advertising

  • OpenAI is in the beginning stages of putting ads in ChatGPT. These ads will be personalized to the conversation but clearly labeled so that the user can easily identify that the ad is separate from the organic answer. It is in early planning stages and has not been implemented yet, so the formatting is tentative and subject to change. The opportunity to place advertisements in OpenAI greatly increases the amount of visibility a law firm can receive in AI tools, reaching new audiences. We will update as more information becomes available.
  • According to our trusted LSA rep, Google is rolling out a new “Search Intent” filter in the Local Services Ads (LSA) Provider Portal that gives law firms clearer insight into where their leads are actually coming from and what they’re paying for. There will be a new Search Intent column in the Leads Inbox and summary, and new filters in reporting to break down spend and leads by: All, Category, and Direct Business Search. The full rollout was scheduled for January 8th, but there have been delays. The changes will help law firms make more informed marketing and budgeting decisions.

📱Social Media

  • Meta is informing some users that they will soon be restricted to sharing only TWO links in their posts per month, unless they pay for its Meta Verified subscription service. To be clear, right now this is a limited test, so relatively few Pages are impacted. But understandably, a lot of users are also seeking more information on the change, and whether it could be expanded to all Pages.
  • As this is in a small-scale test phase, we advise attorneys not to bend to Meta’s request. The fewer businesses that buy into this means their test is likelier to fail and not be rolled out to more pages. There are no guarantees from Meta that if you pay the additional fee, those link posts will receive additional reach. From our perspective, it is a cash grab from the social media platform.
  • AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Perplexity (LLMs) are getting their information from LinkedIn 4 to 5 times more than last year. A study taken in October 2025 shows that LLMs are citing LinkedIn more than any other source aside from Reddit and YouTube.
